
A lawyer for more than 30 years, “Flig” has served the community as a prosecutor, criminal defense lawyer and civil attorney. Other lawyers have given him the highest professional rating of “AV” (Martindale Hubbell) for 20 years. Flig’s colleagues have chosen him as a “Super Lawyer” for several consecutive years. He appeared on the cover of the annual issue of “Super Lawyers” (<click here) in the state of Washington in 2004. Flig was named as one of the best 152 lawyers of 2005 in the Seattle magazine. He is ranked as one of the three best criminal defense attorneys in Seattle in Seattle Business (January 2008), a lecturer, “What to Expect on Your First Day of Trial (NBI seminar for new attorneys, March 2008), and one of the panel members appointed by the King County Bar Association to review and recommend proposals and bids for public defender services for the Seattle Municipal Court.
Flig has appeared as the lawyer for individuals and businesses in criminal cases and civil cases in the federal court system, state courts, municipal courts and administrative proceedings. As a criminal defense lawyer Flig represents adult and juvenile clients on charges including “drunk driving” (DUI or DWI), assault, sexual assault, domestic violence, homicide, drugs, and fraud. In his civil practice Flig advocates for people who have been injured in car accidents or wronged in other ways. Doctors, chiropractors, nurses, certified public accountants and other professions have hired Flig to represent them before licensing boards and in administrative proceedings.
Flig is a member of several professional organizations including the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Association for Justice (previously the American Trial Lawyers Association).
Born a “Hoosier” (Evansville, Indiana), Flig earned a B.A. from Grinnell College (Grinnell, Iowa) (Phi Beta Kappa), a M.P.A. from Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois), and a J. D. from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee). Before becoming a lawyer Flig was a Peace Corps volunteer and grade school teacher (Chicago).
